This case study highlights the role of the Institute of Information Technology and Communications (IITC) as a certified body for management system certifications in Ukraine. It emphasizes the importance of authentic certifications and the sequential approach companies should follow to derive real benefits from implementing management system standards. The future outlook suggests an increasing demand for certifications as Ukrainian companies strive to enhance competitiveness and meet international standards.

As Ukrainian companies increasingly target export markets, including countries in the EU, the United States, and Canada, the demand for management system implementation and international certifications will likely rise. To navigate this landscape effectively, it is advisable to consult with professionals like Alexander Snizhko and leverage the experiences of companies that have already undergone certification or are preparing for audits.

The IITC, accredited by the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine, plays a vital role in certifying management systems, including quality management (ISO 9001), information security management (ISO/IEC 27001), and food safety management (ISO 22000). With its team of accredited auditors, the IITC provides comprehensive certification services to help companies meet domestic and international standards.

Certification of management systems has become increasingly crucial for Ukrainian companies aiming to compete in both domestic and international markets. Many foreign clients view certification as a prerequisite and a competitive advantage. It not only demonstrates compliance with quality and security standards but also enhances the company's reputation and instills confidence in potential partners and customers.

Despite the importance of certification, challenges persist. Some businesses resort to imitating compliance or merely seeking paper certificates, undermining the integrity of the certification process. Additionally, local Ukrainian companies often fail to grasp the true value of certification, considering it a burdensome paperwork exercise rather than a strategic investment in operational efficiency and competitiveness.

Selling non-essential services, including certification, requires effective communication and a clear articulation of value propositions. By emphasizing the alignment of processes, showcasing the benefits of certification, and demonstrating its relevance in international markets, the IITC can help Ukrainian businesses gain a competitive edge. As Ukrainian companies increasingly target export markets and align themselves with EU regulations, the demand for certification services is expected to grow, necessitating proactive efforts to stay informed and guide companies through evolving standards.

The Institute of Information Technology and Communications (IITC) identified the need to expand B2B sales of its certification services.

To address this issue, the IITC sought the expertise of KSE consultant Oleg Zubchenok. Together, they discussed and explored possible solutions to the following challenges:

Promoting Audit Services in the Digital Age

Recognizing the preference of the younger generation for digital platforms like YouTube and TikTok, the IITC and KSE discussed leveraging these channels to conduct webinars, create educational videos, and produce engaging content. By utilizing these platforms, the IITC can reach a wider audience and simplify the understanding of certification services.

Selling Non-Essential Services and Addressing Misconceptions

A key challenge faced by the IITC is selling non-essential services. To overcome this, it was important to emphasize that certification audits go beyond obtaining paper certificates. KSE expert Oleg Zubchenok highlighted that European businesses understand the significance of audits and standards due to their experience working with them. However, local Ukrainian businesses may not fully comprehend the purpose and value of certification. Educating them about the benefits and long-term advantages of certification audits became a priority.

Bridging the Gap in Understanding and PR Efforts

To bridge the gap in understanding and address misconceptions surrounding certification audits, the IITC and KSE discussed the need for a comprehensive PR and informational program. This program would focus on educating businesses about the importance of standards and the value of certification audits. It would emphasize that certification audits are the final step in a comprehensive process that involves independent audits, process setup, and collaboration with specialists. Simplifying the explanation of complex services became a key strategy for effective communication.

Targeting Manufacturers and Staying Informed about EU Regulations

Manufacturers, particularly those planning to enter the export market, expressed a strong interest in specific certifications. The IITC and KSE recognized the need to closely monitor EU regulations to stay informed about upcoming requirements. By providing valuable insights and guidance, the IITC aimed to position itself as a trusted partner for companies seeking to navigate complex standards and regulations.

By addressing these challenges and exploring the suggested solutions with KSE consultant Oleg Zubchenok, the IITC aimed to enhance its B2B sales of certification services, promote understanding of the value of audits, and position itself as a reputable certification body in Ukraine.

In order to enhance the promotion and understanding of certification services, the Institute of Information Technology and Communications (IITC) can explore B2B sales strategies, leverage digital platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, and address misconceptions by highlighting the importance of audits beyond paper certificates. By conducting PR and educational campaigns, the IITC can bridge the gap in understanding and position itself as a valuable resource for businesses seeking certifications in various industries. Additionally, staying informed about EU regulations will enable the IITC to proactively guide companies and ensure compliance with upcoming requirements.

Marketing strategists are professionals who help companies reach new segments and turn them into customers. The marketing strategy uses such tools as the company's values, its brands' messages, defines and connects target audience segments and demographics. As an extension of my love of abstract art, I also use abstract thinking in my business. Such approach helps me find the "connections of things" and show You the way to the Blue Ocean You were looking for. (This may sound quite optimistic, but abstract thinking absolutely helps me grasp more of the overall situation to find a winning strategy.)
